A fisherman for over 35 years himself, John started the art of fish taxidermy as a hobby. Today, He produces some of the most beautiful works of art seen in Australla.
He has the skills to produce a life-like skin or fibreglass mount at very reasonable rates. All species are mountable and the specialty is Fish Habitats, where the subject is mounted in a "LIVE ACTION,3D" pose.
He also can do resprays and repairs, and no job is too small.
The new studio at Lot 5, Rhine Falls Road is only 15 mins from the heart of Cooma, off the Snowy Mountains Highway, just past the Llama Farm. Here you can see his work first hand and choose how you want to have your prized catch mounted.
CARE OF YOUR FISH
The better the specimen the better the result of the mount. Keep the fish moist or wet until you can wrap the whole fish in Glad Wrap to avoid freezer burn. Make sure the fins are against the body when freezing. DO NOT GUT OR GILL the fish. Keep the best side up and avoid placing anything on your fish in the freezer as it affects the colouration. The fish can remain like this untill you can drop it to us, or at one of our drop-off shops, or send it by overnight freight. If you catch a fish in the area you can drop it fresh to the Studio.
CARE OF YOUR TROPHY
A lot of work has gone into making your trophy individual. From the transparent flexible fins to the detailed paintwork. Do not allow the fish to be touched unless dusting it with a damp cloth. Your trophy will remain a work of art for many years. Do not display in direct sunlight or near heat.
DELIVERY OF FINISHED ARTWORK
Quoted work will be ex Studio and arrangements can be made to freight the mount to you on your behalf.
